How to disable Google Chrome profiles
Staff who are using the Google Chrome browser may be presented with the following dialog upon login to ARTIC Gmail. The pop-up appears when you sign in to your ARTIC Google account (via Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) using the desktop Google Chrome browser version 102 or newer. This change was implemented by Google beginning with Chrome version 102, Information Services made no change to our Google Workspace domain to default employees accounts to a Chrome managed profile. Contrary to the dialog below, our system administrator has disabled Google Sync.
To circumvent using a Chrome profile, first check the Keep local browsing data box to retain the current state of your bookmarks and browsing data. Click Continue . (If you have already created a Chrome profile and appear to have lost your bookmarks please refer the the solutions article linked here.)
Once you have reached the ARTIC Gmail home screen, click on the 3 vertical dots in the top right hand corner of your browser window and select Settings.
Once you are in the Settings dialog, select You and Google in the left side navigation pane. Next, toggle off the active Allow Chrome sign-in setting so it appears gray, per the image below.
Click Relaunch to apply these changes. Chrome will immediately close and re-open and you will no longer be prompted to login to a Chrome profile.
