How do I log into my Macbook pro from home?
If you are taking a laptop off site for the first time you must connect to the network at least one time before logging in outside of the network. If a laptop has been shipped to you and this is the first time using it, login credentials with a single use password will be emailed to you.
- Power on the laptop
- On the login screen, enter your username in the username entry.
- Enter your computer login password
How do I sign into VPN?
The following instructions show you how to use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client on a macOS computer. Yous should already have VPN installed on the AIC laptop you are using. If you do not have it installed, please contact Technical Support Service at itsupport@artic.edu for additional assistance.
Launch the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client by selecting Applications from the Go menu, click the Cisco folder and then the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
Click Connect.
Log in with your ARTIC (Single Sign-On) username and password and click OK.
Enter 1 in the Answer field to receive a Duo Push to the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone. Please have your smartphone with you, have the Duo Mobile app open, and be prepared to complete the multi-factor authentication process. Click Continue.
Tap Approve in the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone to complete the multi-factor authentication.
A notification will appear when you’ve connected successfully.
The AnyConnect client icon will be visible in the menu bar.
To disconnect from VPN, open the AnyConnect client by selecting the AnyConnect icon from the menu bar and click Disconnect.
How do I connect to department shares from home?
Important note about accessing file services: after following these instructions, you will have access to your drive mappings (mounted volumes) and associated files. Always remember to save and close open files before you do any of the following:
Doing so will help ensure that the files remain accessible from your laptop and office computers, and will ensure that the files don’t become corrupted.
- Launch the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client and establish a VPN connection.
- Connect to the Server

Begin by clicking the desktop, select Go from the menu bar and click on select Connect to Server... from the drop down menu.

Type in AICFS01 in the Connect to Server box and click Connect.

Select the volumes you want to mount, then click OK.

Your mounted volumes will now be displayed on the desktop and accessible to you.
To eject a volume, use one of the following two options:
Option One: Open the Finder then click the eject button next to the Volume that you would like to eject.
Option Two: From the desktop, right click on the volume that you want to eject, then select Eject from the dropdown options.
